Recently, the Lagos State High Court sentenced a financier named Olawale Garuba to 39 years detainment for taking from a dead client.
Garuba and five others were accused of scheme and taking before Equity Oluwatoyin Ipaye in July a year ago. The extortion was revealed by the bank when they found that some of their staff, including the convict, had plotted with intermediaries to take from a torpid record of one of the bank's clients. This prompted the capture of Garuba and the other people who were later given over to EFCC for examination and arraignment.
Garuba and his assistants at first argued not liable to 13 numbers of extortion, however on the second of June Garuba chose to change his supplication from 'not liable' to "blameworthy." He was sentenced amid a listening to yesterday to three years in jail for each of the 13-count charge as a detriment to him despite the fact that his legal advisor argued that he was first time guilty party with a youthful spouse and two little kids.
The managing judge looking into the issue, Equity Ipaye said in spite of the regret of the convict, she had no sensitivity for him as he traded off his position as a broker to take from a perished client whose cash would have been utilized by the family she deserted. She included that the convict permitted his avarice to overcome him and danger losing the occupation that a huge number of employment seekers are needing to get.
Garuba's sentences are to run simultaneously from the date of his first detainment, which is July 24, 2015.
