This is The Reason why CAF Deduct 3 Points From Nigeria, Egypt, Fines Chad

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has deducted three points from Nigeria, Egypt and Tanzania, all members of Group G, following the withdrawal of Chad from the ongoing qualification race for the 31st edition of the Africa Cup of Nations, Gabon 2017.

Chad were due to travel to Tanzania for the fourth match in the group, but instead made the announcement of a shocking withdrawal, citing financial constraints.

CAF swiftly applied its rules in conformity with Article 61 of the regulations of the competition which states: "If a team withdraws from the qualifying phase organised in groups, all its results shall be annulled (points, scored and conceded goals)".

"Consequently, the three matches of Chad of Group G are cancelled and the results will not be taken into consideration", CAF said.

Following the deduction of three points each, Egypt still lead the group with four points, while Nigeria have two. Tanzania have a point.

CAF further said that in accordance, with the rule set by CAF Executive Committee on 15 January 2015, any group reduced to three teams following the withdrawal of a team will have only the group winner qualifying for the final tournament.

Furthermore, the Chadian Football Federation has been fined 20,000 US Dollars and also barred from participating in the next edition of the AFCON in conformity with Article 59 of the regulations of the Competition which states "any association declaring forfeit after the start of the matches is liable to a fine of twenty thousand (20,000) U.S. dollars. It will also not be allowed to participate in the next edition of the AFCON".

Meanwhile, Egypt will face Nigeria on Tuesday, 29 March 2016 in Alexandria.

A 31-year-old man has been hospitalized after he was brutally beaten by a mob for allegedly attempting to rob a woman at an ATM in Giyani, Limpopo, South Africa.

According to local reports, the woman screamed, attracting the attention of people around. The mob gathered around the man, stripped him naked, paraded him in town and beat him so severely that he had to be taken to Nkhensani Hospital in an ambulance.

Giyani police spokesperson, Insp. Thomas Makhuvele, said the police arrived to intervene.

"The man is recovering in hospital and is not dead or in critical condition, as it is rumoured."

At the time of his hospitalisation, the man was unconscious. He later on opened a case of assault against the mob, according to Makhuvhele.

The woman who claimed to have been robbed by the man has not yet come forward to press any charge of theft. Rumours of a gang from Nkowankowa, (outside Tzaneen) operating in Giyani have been circulating around Giyani.

The group is said to travel in a white VW Citi Golf which operates as their escape car. The group loiters around ATMs and look for victims who look like they may need assistance.

However, according to Makhuvele, since no one has come forward with any information or pressed any charges, the man could walk off free.

"As no one has pressed any criminal charges against the man, he is currently not under police guard." Makhuvele said.

The community is requested not to take matters into their own hands, but advised to rather go to the Giyani Police Station to give the police any information that could lead to criminal activity being curbed.

The police are investigating the matter and looking for the people responsible for the vicious assault of the man.

The Financial Times, London based journal, has published a report on how Nigerian leaders are living flamboyant life while the country is groaning.

It said that according to figures unveiled by the financial ministry, travel was the single biggest government line item from 2012 to 2014, at N248bn ($1.25bn) for the three years combined. This is equal to an extraordinary 18 % of total government spending.

The ministry believes it can cut N4bn a year from travel costs by discussing number of airfares with carriers, or just under 5 % of the about N85bn yearly average. It said in a statement: "The Efficiency Unit has engaged in negotiation discussions with local and international airlines for discounts commensurate with the large number of ticket purchases made by government annually.

"The savings generated will increase funding available to the government for capital investment."

You wouldn't want to get out of Buhari's planes upon arrival.

The journal further stated that unluckily these savings are a drop in the ocean. Nigeria is staring at a budget deficit that is set to double to N2.2tn in 2016.

President Buhari said that the country will get up to $4.5bn on foreign markets this year to close the gap. In January, it reached the World Bank and the African Development Bank for a $3.5bn emergency loan.

The report says: "The high cost of travel for government officials is unsurprising. The Nigerian elite has a taste for luxury travel, shown by the proliferation of private jets in the country.

"A 2012 investigation by Nigerian newspaper Punch found that wealthy Nigerians spent $6.5bn on private planes between 2007 and 2012, making the country the biggest market for them in Africa.

"Not all of them were bought with private funds. Under former president Goodluck Jonathan, Nigeria's Presidential Air Fleet (PAF) acquired several new private jets, bringing its total to 11.

"According to the UN, 46% of Nigerians live in poverty, rising to 70 per cent in rural areas."

The presidential fleet is funded from the defence budget and overseen by the Air Force. Buhari has faced criticism for failing to cut down the number of planes more than a year after he was inaugurated.

The disclosure that the presidential fleet cost N5.8bn to personnel and keep in the first six months of his government caused a rage in the national media. Meanwhile, the Nigerian 36 governors are not known to use commercial flights, either.

Under ex-governor Rotimi Amaechi, the oil rich southern Rivers state, for example, owned two private jets comprising a brand new $50m Bombardier jet bought in 2012, and operated several helicopters.

Amaechi is now the incumbent minister of transpport.

The cost of operating private planes is high. PrivateFly, a UK-based charter service, estimates fixed costs for a medium-sized private jet at around $1.8m a year.

"The biggest cost is the depreciation of the aircraft itself," says CEO Adam Twidell.

President Buhari promised to cut the governance and if he is serious in his wish, targeting the government elite's private air fleets might be a good place to start. An average Buhari's trip costs Nigerians between half a million and $1.2million in traveling expenses alone.

The last trips by the leader of the nation to Saudi Arabia and Qatar, cost over $3m.

5. The crook then asks for the name of bank you use. (Isn't he/she supposed to be an employee of the bank Why would you ask for the name of the bank you're working in - Lmao) .

5. He/She then asks when Last you used your ATM and how much you withdrew from your account (Trying to figure out if you're wealthy or nah)

6. He/She proceeds to tell you that they'll activate your ATM back but they'll need your personal information. (Ahan... Na so people dey fall mugu for this Side eye!)

7. He/She then proceeds to ask for the kind of card you use (MasterCard, Visa, etc)

8. And Finally asks for the serial number of the card. ( Really Lmao)

From hereon, there are two things involved. You either fall for the rubbish and they'll transfer every single Kobo in your account while you're getting alerts or You Insult the person and abuse his future generations. Lol.

No Bank would ever call you to request for such through a phone call, email or text. Do NOT fall for these people.

Senators who opposed the election of Senator Bukola Saraki as the Senate president will soon 'sheathe their swords' and drum support for the ex-Kwara state governor at the Code of Conduct Trial (CCT) on Thursday, March 24, Premium Times reports.

To confirm this, the senators on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), held an unusual meeting Tuesday, March 22 with the Senate president's key men, where they stated that their differences would no longer stand between them and their support for their leader.

Ten senators reportedly attended the meeting held at the Asokoro residence of ex-Sokoto governor, Aliyu Wammako, including five from each of the camps which had opposed one another for months.

Recall that Saraki has been at loggerheads with the leaders of the APC since he was made the Senate president against the wish of the party which preferred Ahmed Lawan for the post and has had to deal with a case of corruption allegations at the Code of Conduct Tribunal.

Lawan, Marafa, Gbenga Ashafa, and Suleiman Hukunyi stood on the opposing part while Danjuma Goje, Wammako, Sani Yerima, Kabiru Gaya and Adamu Aliero represented Saraki's interest during the meeting.

Wammako who spoke with Premium Times after the meeting which ended at about 6.50pm, explained that they held the meeting to end the crisis that has hit the APC caucus following.

"Effectively the meeting has brought an end to crisis in the Senate between APC Senators who now support the Senate President, Bukola Saraki," the senator said.

Saraki is due to appear at the Code of Conduct Tribunal on Thursday when the tribunal is expected to rule on his motion for the dismissal of the case against him on grounds of procedural error.

Speaking also after the meeting, another senator (of the Unity Forum) informed that there were three agreements from the parley, but of most importance is the fact that they all agreed to have a united APC caucus.

According to the senator who preferred anonymity, "The number three point is the supremacy of our party, loyalty to our leaders and support for President Muhammadu Buhari. The meeting was held in the interest our party and Nigeria.

"It is beyond Saraki, there is no crisis between us again. This man (Saraki) is in court and anything can happen."

Only yesterday, Justice Abdul Kafarati of the Federal High Court, Abuja, withdrew from a fundamental rights suit filed by Saraki to crush the charges of false declaration of assets brought against him by the federal government at the CCT.

Kafarati explained that his integrity had been called into question in the matter, hence his decision to disqualify himself from it.

According to him, his decision comes on the heels of a report on an online publications accusing him of corruption to the tune N2bn, TheCable reports.

Kafarati belives that if he ruled against or for Saraki his decision would be interpreted differently.

A bus conductor, Taheed Adekunle, who was blamed for harming a traveler's scrotum amid argument about transportation admission, was on Thursday remanded in jail by a Tinubu Judges' Court in Lagos.

Adekunle, 19, of no altered location, conceded to a charge of ambush.
